Tamil financial influencer Harish was found dead at his home in Kanathur, near Chennai, on Tuesday night. Police suspect suicide. Before his death, Harish had posted a video saying he was upset over a complaint filed against him with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for providing financial advice without the required registration.
Harish had been sharing videos in Tamil on Instagram and YouTube about investments, mutual funds and trading. According to his close friends, he had been doing this for five years and had gained over 1.4 million followers.
In one of his last videos, Harish alleged that he was facing cyberbullying and mental harassment. He also claimed that his family was being threatened and that some people wanted his videos removed.
Recently, Meta removed his Instagram account because he was providing financial advice without the required SEBI registration. Social media user Kirubakaran Rajendran said losing the account could have been a major setback for Harish, as he had spent years building his audience and career.
Harish received the ‘Best Finance Channel’ award from a private organisation in 2025.
Following news of his death, social media users and influencers expressed their condolences. Prawin Ganeshan also paid tribute to him.
Police recovered Harish’s body from his home and sent it to a government hospital for an autopsy. The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
